Fireside Environmental Speaker Event

The Conservation Committee is pleased to invite you to a very special speaker event. Please join us for:

"To Russia and Back Again: The Journey to Protect Wild Salmon, Giant Taimen and Our Own Future"

A presentation by

Guido Rahr, President of the Wild Salmon Center

In the Shadow of recent events surrounding the Pebble Mine, the re-direction of the EPA, and eroding protections for wild environments, we are excited to invite you to come to a presentation focusing on the Salmon of the Pacific Ocean, their habitats, and what we can do to preserve and protect these precious resources.  There will also be some pictures of seriously big fish caught on a fly.

For 25 years, fly fisherman Guido Rahr has been adventuring to the Russian Far East, Alaska and British Columbia to study and protect the last great salmon Stronghold Rivers on Earth. The subject of a new book from Random House, Rahr will take us on a visual journey, describe the future of salmon, steelhead and their ancient cousins, taimen, and articulate just how important salmon are to our own lives on the Pacific Coast.

We are going to serve some great food and have a toast together before the speaker. Space in the clubhouse is limited so please register here to RSVP on this calendar event site as soon as you can. We expect to fill the room.

Wednesday October 9th

About Wild Salmon Center
The mission of Wild Salmon Center is to promote the conservation and sustainable use of wild salmon ecosystems across the Pacific Rim. Working across the entire range of Pacific salmon, from California to the Russian Far East, we lead the protection of strongholds, the North Pacific's last, best salmon rivers. Over 25 years, we have worked alongside local partners to protect 3 million acres around salmon stronghold rivers and prioritize 71 of those rivers for wild fish. More at
