Fly Fishing the Russian Far East

July 8th, 7PM

A Special Presentation by

Dr Mikhail Skopets

Hosted by Stephen Starke

We are incredibly fortunate to host world renowned Fisheries Biologist and Russian Explorer Mikhail Skopets. Mikhail will present his amazing new book: “Flyfishing Russia: The Far East” and give us a glimpse into the enormous and un-swung fisheries of the Far East. Part scientific text, part fishing guidebook and part adventure story his book opens a whole new frontier to western fly fishers. This promises to be an evening of tales of adventure, new frontiers and mind-blowing fishing. Dr Skopets will discuss the state of the Russian fisheries and what environmental efforts look like in the vast untrammeled watersheds of the Far East.

Sign on Thursday July 8th 7PM

First 100 to sign up will be able to attend. This invitation is for GGACC members exclusively. If you would like to invite a fishing buddy, suggest that they join the GGACC at the link below and sign up for all of our amazing activities.

Mikhail Skopets

Dr. Mikhail Scopets is a Russian Fisheries Biologist with 40 years of experience passionately working in and exploring the rivers and lakes of the vast Russian Far East. He is a true pioneer having floated uncharted rivers, explored new territories and cast the first flies ever to be presented on many, many rivers and lakes throughout an area the size of the Pacific Coast from California to Alaska. He is known as the Indiana Jones of the Far East bringing science, adventure and an environmental ethic to places where no one has brought such intent before. As of May 2020 he had listed 165 species of fish that he personally caught on a fly.
