OUT OF CONCERN FOR THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC AND THE REQUIRED TRAVELING  AND POTENTIAL LARGE ATTENDANCE FOR THIS EVENT EXPOSING COMPETITORS, VENDORS, VOLUNTEERS, AND SPECTATORS, THE SPEY-O-RAMA EVENT DESCRIBED BELOW HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR THE YEAR 2020.  WE HOPE YOU'LL ALL BE ABLE TO JOIN US NEXT YEAR WHEN WE NEXT HOLD THIS COMPETITION.  Competitors are being contacted directly with more information.

The GGACC will again be hosting their annual World Championship of Spey Casting. This international distance casting competition using two-handed Spey rods will be held on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, April 17-19, 2020, the third weekend of the month again this year.

Bring a blanket or folding chairs to sit on the lawn while you enjoy the beauty and spectacle of this amazing fly casting, or wander around the exhibitors' tables when you need a break.

Both club members and the public are invited to attend this event for FREE to watch the world's best Spey Casters compete. As in past years, there will be Men's, Women's, and Senior's Divisions of competition with casters representing many countries and team sponsors.

Registration and practice sessions for the competitors will be held on Friday, with quite possibly a first-ever Senior Division qualifying competition to be held on Friday as well if the registration numbers warrant this.

Men's Qualifying competition will be held on Saturday starting at 8:00am and should finish up around 1:00pm.  Following the casting competition on Saturday, there will be an in-lodge presentation and an on-pond casting demonstration for the benefit of the membership and public starting at 3:00pm that afternoon.

Finals competition in the Senior, Women's, and Men's Open divisions will be held in that order on Sunday starting at 8:00am, with an Awards Ceremony immediately afterwards at about 12:45pm.

Exhibitors will be set up around the ponds -- and there will be a buffet breakfast starting at 7:00am and a mid-day lunch served to both members and the public for a $10 fee per meal payable at the door (but free to competitors) -- on all three days. The price of admission to dinner in the lodge on Saturday evening is $30, also payable at the door. A silent auction of equipment and other items will start at 10:00am on Saturday and end at 1:00pm on Sunday (high bidders will be contacted).

Competitors will have exclusive use of the ponds on Friday as a practice day (except as may be needed for Senior Qualifying) and for the duration of the competition as held each day that weekend. Competitors may register for this event on the separate calendar posting provided for this or under the Spey-O-Rama icon on the club's homepage (www.ggacc.org).

For more information about this big event including the detailed daily schedule, last year's competitors and results, past winners, rules, etc., please go to the Spey-O-Rama pull-down tab on the club's home page.

The casting ponds are located in Golden Gate Park (across from the buffalo paddock) just off John F. Kennedy Drive (use 1232 John F. Kennedy Drive, San Francisco for nav input).

If you wish to compete, the registration form is here.

You may also reserve a spot by emailing Libby Wolfensperger, the 2020 Spey-O-Rama Chairperson, at elwolfensperger@me.com
