NOTE: THIS FISH-OUT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO THE UNUSUALLY HIGH FLOW LEVEL OF THIS RIVER.
This first fish-out on the North Fork of the Yuba River for the Beginners Class (Step 1) in the club's Learn to Fly Fish program can open up a world of opportunity for you as a Sierra fly-fisher. There are hundreds of miles of cool, clear water in the Sierras very similar to this little river, and they are all holding trout just waiting for you to delicately present a tasty looking fly in their direction. So, if you are a registered LTFF Beginning student, come join us to begin learning the on-stream knowledge you need to help you enjoy a lifetime of fly fishing.
This mentored fish-out will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017, and may extend into Sunday for those wanting to fish more after breaking camp that morning. Most of us will be camping at the NFS Loganville Campground and we will explore sections of the river from there. The campground is roughly 11 miles east of Downieville, CA, on State Hwy 49 (less than 2 miles from Sierra City). This Nat'l. Forest Service campground is at about 4,100 ft elevation and has pit toilets (outhouses) and fresh (potable) water faucets strategically located throughout the camp.
Lunch will be provided on both Saturday and Sunday, and we may choose to enjoy a good meal and good times at the only restaurant in Sierra City on Saturday night (Herrington's, which unfortunately will only take 5PM reservations any more for large groups), or do a big group cook-out in camp later that night if that is the group's preference.
The registration fee for this fish-out is $150, which covers the two camp lunches and a Saturday night dinner (including the mentors'), the campground fees for all Lower Loop campsites, and a starter kit of flies. It does NOT include breakfasts, for which everyone is on their own, or dinners either on Friday and Sunday.
THIS FISH-OUT IS FOR THE BEGINNER CLASS ONLY! Watch for emails further describing this fish-out and what you need to bring, what to expect, etc. or an announcement of a possible pre-meeting to be scheduled later for this fish-out.
NOTE: Those who have registered for a LTFF fish-out and later learn that they can't attend will be solely responsible for finding their own replacement to pay them directly for whatever they can get for their spot. These fish-outs are necessarily planned and paid for in advance so club refunds are not generally possible.
