MEL'S DAY - FREE CASTING LESSONS at the GGACC Angler's Ponds

The Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club Presents the Mel Kieger Casting School

In honor of Mel Krieger, this casting clinic is offered at no-charge to club members and the general public. The clinic will be held at the finest casting facility in the world "THE GOLDEN GATE ANGLING & CASTING CLUB" located in Golden Gate Park. A limited number of fly rods will be available. Lunch will be available for the nominal fee of $8.00/person.

Recognized for three decades as the top fly fishing instructor in the United States and much of the world, Mel Krieger is famous for a fine-tuned teaching approach that makes learning the sport easy, fast, and lots of fun! Tens of thousands of fly casters have learned the fundamentals at Mel's elbow, including many of the world's finest fishermen, champion casters, expert anglers, guides, and instructors. The Mel Krieger Method of teaching is quick and successful.

The clinic will feature Mel Krieger trained Fly Fishing Federation Certified Fly Casting Instructors

1. Casting classes are usually held on the Second Saturday of each month; please check the website for possible changes in the dates.
2. Casting classes are held irrespective of rain, wind, snow or shine.
3. Please wear eye protection.
4. We anticipate later this year, we will have classes for those who are interested in becoming an FFF Certified Casting Instructor. Please express your interest at the regular classes to John C. Till.
5. We will also be holding classes in “specialty casting” concepts. Specialty casts are generally thought of as any cast other than a straight line cast.
6. At the present, the classes are limited to instruction in the use of a single handed rod.
7. We have free single-handed fly casting equipment at the club for the lessons, however, if you intend to take advantage of the free equipment please arrive at least 15 min. early.
