This year's Pond Cleaning will be TUESDAY, March 27, 2018, starting at 7:30 AM.
Along with the SF Rec & Parks Dept., we again need lots of good help from the club's membership to get the ponds in shape for Mel's Day on April 14 and the Spey-O-Rama on April 20-22, as well as for all of us and the members of the public who use the ponds.
Please consider giving the GGACC a few hours of your time. In return, we will start you out with coffee and breakfast, give you a broom or a shovel to use, or a wheelbarrow to push, or maybe you'd like to be part of the hose crew. We will break from our work for a delicious lunch and, if need be, finish the job up afterward.
If we get enough helpers, we should be able to wrap up our work by 12:30 PM or so, and then take a few "Team" photos and enjoy a nice meal. SF Rec & Parks Dept. will provide the tools and a handful of employees to help out. After the ponds are thoroughly cleaned, they will also coordinate or perform: removal of any aquatic growth in the ponds and repair of cracks in the concrete.
All you need to bring is your waders or a pair of rubber boots, maybe a pair of work gloves, and the willingness to get the job done. That being said, this is necessarily on a weekday and most members who are available on a weekday are retired and perhaps a little less able-bodied. So we really hope that some of our younger members will take the day, or just that morning, off from work to join us.
