[Note: This event is being offered separate from the club's Spey Angler Program.]
Out of his appreciation for our great club, world champion Spey caster Travis Johnson has generously offered to provide a free Spey casting clinic exclusively for GGACC members on Saturday, January 20th from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Golden Gate casting ponds.
Travis will be discussing the evolution of modern Spey casting from its origins to the present day, as well as providing his insight into its future direction. This clinic is targeted to all levels of Spey students and will cover all types of Spey lines.
There will be an indoor presentation first, followed by on-the-water casting demonstrations. Afterwards, as time permits, Travis has offered to coach individuals in the ponds. Participants should bring a jacket, glasses (for eye protection), waders, boots, Spey rod, reel, line, leader, yarn (for practice flies), something for taking notes, and lunch and drinks. If you do not have Spey equipment, don’t worry; you’ll still get a lot from this free session. But if you want to practice casting with Travis after the demos, you’ll need your own equipment.
Note: For those willing to pay for more individualized Spey casting instruction from Travis, he plans to be in San Francisco from January 17 through 21. Contact Jen Gehr (rvlife4us@gmail.com) or call her at 805-340-7292 to arrange for one-on-one casting time with Travis.
Participation is limited by space constraints. All participants must be members of GGACC. Membership renewal and new membership sign-ups for the 2018 calendar year are open now on our club website at www.ggacc.org
Please REGISTER soon for this free Spey casting clinic. If the Join Wait button shows instead of the Register button, the event has reached its set limit for registration.
