GGACC's Spey Angler Program is unique, in that its goal is to actually teach anglers how to fish with a double-handed rod. This class is more than a casting lesson.
On Saturday we cover the fundamentals of Spey in a classroom setting, then quickly move to the ponds to learn the fundamental Spey casts.
Sunday we head to Sacramento's American River and learn to fish the casts learned on Saturday. We then add sink tips to replicate real world conditions. Also covered are rotation fishing, river courtesy, and fighting and landing steelhead and salmon.
We meet Saturday at 9AM in Anglers Lodge meeting room, then into the water from 10AM through 4PM with appropriate breaks. Sunday we meet on the American River at 8:30 AM at a location in Sacramento to be provided on Saturday.
Your instructors will be Bob Pauli, Bill Gallogly, and Steve Morikawa.
Registration is by appointment only (via an emailed request to Bob Pauli, email@example.com). Each class is limited to 5 students.
There is a $100 fee for this program. If accepted for this class, please prepare a check payable to "GGACC" with a memo note "Spey" and mail to Bob Pauli at 1820 Walters Court, Fairfield, CA 94533.
Bring your own waders, eyewear, hat, and lunches, but students may use the club's Spey rods each day.
