[Note: The Lodge meeting room and the center casting pond are reserved exclusively for this Saturday afternoon event.]
The GGACC is excited to be starting a Youth Program designed to introduce children to fly fishing. This group of kids, who will be referred to as the "Emergers Class", need not be club members to participate in this program.
The first event for this program will be held at the GGACC Casting Ponds on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 1pm to 3pm, followed by a BBQ from 3pm-4pm. The event will include casting instruction, simple and fun fly-tying lessons, snacks, and a fun casting competition. Children will be divided into two groups: one for ages 9 to 11 and another for ages 11 to 14. There will be approximately 10 adult volunteers from the club to help run the activities. The GGACC will provide beginner fly rods, fly tying equipment, and refreshments. Please bring sunscreen, hat, and other appropriate clothing. Sunglasses or other protective eyewear is strongly suggested.
Age Bracket: 9-14 year olds only, no exceptions for this first class.
Max capacity is 18 kids.
Curriculum will include:
- Fly Casting
- Fly Tying
Registration: Online registration required, whether a club member or not. (Sign up for the Wait List if the registration limit has been reached. This list will be used in the event of an opening due to a known drop-out.)
NOTE: We are still actively looking for volunteers to help us instruct, direct, and cook for this program.
If you have questions or would like to volunteer to help, please contact George Revel at George@lostcoastoutfitters.com or at 530.209.3108.
